About Us:
We are Richard and Christine Tatman, and we live in Warwickshire, UK. We are avid skiers, but we love Saalbach and the sun-kissed lakes and mountainscapes of lovely Austria at any time of year.
For 20 years we organised ski chalet parties in many of the major resorts of France, Switzerland and Austria. Ultimately we decided to acquire our own ski apartments in Austria - because we found that we always had much more fun there than in other countries. And it had to be Saalbach, because it is undoubtedly the best all-round ski resort we have ever encountered - whether your priority is the quantity, the quality or the convenience of the skiing, the entertainment value of the apres-ski, the friendly, welcoming atmosphere or the picturesque charm of the surroundings, this wonderful resort really does tick all the boxes!
(This picture - click to enlarge - shows the view from our apartments in winter, with a grandstand view of the village nursery slope in the foreground and the black run on the Schattberg mountain as the backdrop)
The honey-pot village of Saalbach, with its charming village centre and its ancient onion-domed church, is about 50 miles from the magical "Sound of Music" city of Salzburg. It is approximately 1,000 feet higher than many well-known Austrian ski villages (Zell am See, Kitzbuhel, Mayrhofen, Soll, etc), which makes for an excellent snow record. The "Ski-Circus" of Saalbach-Hinterglemm is one of Austria's top three ski areas and its biggest fully-interlinked area.
Outside the busy winter season, which lasts from early December to mid-April, the village of Saalbach is appealing in a different, more relaxed way - walking, cycling, water sports, golf, horse-riding, sight-seeing, and more things to do than time will permit in one holiday.

In summer a magical land of breath-taking scenery - turquoise lakes, snow-capped peaks, green forests, crashing waterfalls, awe-inspiring glaciers, caves, and castles.

The lake-side resort of Zell am See, idyllic in summer, is 10 miles down the road.
The glacier resort of Kaprun is about 30 minutes drive away.
Places as diverse as the beautiful Austrian Lake District ("Salzkammergut"), the amazing Krimml waterfalls, Hitler's 'Eagle's Nest' at Berchtesgarden, The Italian South Tyrol (Dolomites), Slovenia and even Venice are within day-tripping distance.
Our two apartments are ideally located, a stone's throw from the village centre and directly opposite the main ski lift!
There is an absolute minimum of walking in ski boots! Ski virtually from and back to the front door! The uninterrupted, panoramic view from our apartments is to die for!
If you fancy a spot of pampering, there are 'Wellness Suites' available in the abundant, luxurious, 4 star hotels nearby - one of them literally next door! However, Saalbach is a resort that cries out for you to self-cater: it offers an eclectic array of restaurants, both up the mountain and in the village, catering for all budgets and tastes, and the evening entertainment is legendary! A hotel or chalet would cost you considerably more, and you would miss out on much of the fun. Do it our way - once sampled, you won't want to do it any other way!
(Hans Peter of Peter's Restaurant shows one of our guests how to cook a 'Felsensteak' (succulent fillet steak served sizzling on a hot stone) to perfection. Herr Peter is also a talented magician and once a week presents a hilarious magic show to his diners at no extra cost - unmissable!)
There are three handy supermarkets for your breakfast requirements and perhaps for the occasional meal at home accompanied by a bottle of excellent Austrian wine. There are also some really excellent take-aways. Self-catering gives you the flexibility to do what you please when you please.

Our two comfortably furnished and well-equipped apartments are situated one above the other in the same attractive, chalet-style building. One is on the ground floor and the other is on the first floor.
Both apartments are south-facing and the ground floor one has access to a sun terrace and garden. They are warm and cosy, having radiators and underfloor heating. They can be used separately or in combination by one party. They will sleep from two to ten people. They are comfortably furnished and equipped with cooking facilities, television, etc. One has a living room and two bedrooms and will sleep 4/6 people, and the other is a studio apartment that will sleep 2/4 people. Both have separate kitchens and shower room/toilets.
